LCCC CREATIVE WRITING

Participants can sign up for one, two or three credits a semester. Summer, Fall and Spring Semesters. We will examine language as a structured system of form and meaning and how language interacts with various aspects of society. Summary, analysis, synthesis, and research documentation are emphasized, along with critical thinking and collaborative learning.

Study of short stories and novels to acquaint the general student with important themes and critical perspectives applicable to fiction. Readings include a broad range of genres, themes, and historical periods, from ancient to modern. Studies include a broad range of literary materials, figures and influences with emphasis upon the multicultural canon of American literature. Provides intensive instruction and practice in writing coherent paragraphs and essays for specific audiences; includes the drafting, revision, and editing processes as well as instruction in grammar, mechanics, and usage. Do you enjoy reading classic literature, non-fiction and scholarly writing? The course focuses on works from the significant body of literature that portrays African-American life and experience. The course readings will focus upon a specific topic to be determined by individual instructors. A critical wgiting appreciative study of selected plays from the comedies, histories, and tragedies.

Designed to help students understand, appreciate, and evaluate children’s literature through the study of selected novels, chapter books, picture books, poems, folktales, and fairytales.

This articulation is a formal agreement between LCCC and the institution. Repeatable up to four 4 credit hours. The literature will be examined in terms of a cultural, historical and aesthetic heritage. This agreement matches up coursework to make the transfer process smooth and to eliminate any duplication of courses.
